Plein air painting and life drawing

The French term plein air means out of doors and refers to the practice of painting entire finished pictures out of doors. I just discovered plein air painting last year (2022) when I signed up for the Dublin Plein air festival. I loved it and the camaraderie of meeting other artists. Since then I’ve been trying to do it as much outdoor painting and drawing as possible and I hope to do lots in 2023.

When I’m not painting; I draw. I especially love life drawing and portraits and I try to get in at least one live session every week with a live model although these days its mostly on zoom.
